AN FAQ ON THE TEA PARTIES

I'm left to wonder just how impressive these attendance numbers really are when, as Geraldo Rivera correctly pointed out to Sean Hannity, 350,000 people turned out for a pro-(illegal)immigration rally in Chicago that was organized in 1 week. Reality check, their numbers contimue to grow while ours shrink. The choir already believes.

OBAMA'S AFPAK PLAN JUST ABOUT RIGHT

B.Poster states our troops are worn down and at the breaking point. Where do you get your information? As the father of 2 US Army officers one now in Iraq, and one on his way to Afghanistan in May, I can say with complete confidence you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Their equipment is top line, their morale is extremely high, and they have confidence in their leadeship, including, believe it or not Obama. Retention and recruitment rates are excellent and they believe in their mission. The first Styker units will deploy to Afghanistan sometime in early summer, and will make our Afghan forces more agile and deadly then they have been to date. They will get the job done.

Some of your political arguments may have merit but your take on our troops, their morale, and their equipment, I suspect, are based more on your own feelings about the Afghan war rather then the facts. Our military is well trained, well equipped, competent, intelligent, more then willing to engage and kill the enemy and above all ready to complete the mission.
Sorry... forgot to say great post - can't wait to read your next one!

RUSH VS. NEWT: GAME ON!

I've lately come to the conclusion that while many can opine as to what American Conservatism should be, no one seems able to define what true American Conservatism is, or its' relevance in the 21st century.

Limbaugh's red meat anti intellectualism has very little appeal for libertarians, most of whom have deserted the movement and the party anyway. Conservative elites driven from the movement because they dared to question the qualifications of the "red meats" favorite daughter, Sarah Palin. Religious/social conservatives unapologetically clinging to their pro-life, anti-gay marriage litmus tests, paleocons migrating to god knows where, neocons forever discredited for their chicken hawk hypocrisy, and the economic conservatives belief in free markets proven a lie by their many exceptions.

Add to this disarray the massive demographic shifts going on in both the southeast and southwest coupled with a growing number of Americans who like to vote themselves "stuff" and suddenly the task of reviving and revitalizing American Conservatism seems not just daunting, it seems impossible.

Reality bites.

THE POST MY DETRACTORS WISH I HAD WRITTEN ABOUT THE TEA PARTIES

Greg:
Unfortunately the great charade, or fairy tale as you call it, has managed to works its magic and indoctrinate the vast majority of the population. They pull the stings and "we the people" dance like good little marionettes.

While back at CPAC, Coulter flip-flops on Afghanistan, Ziegler calls for a Jihad against anyone opposed to Palin, and Limbaugh, while trashing Newt, lays claim to the new Conservative mantra, to hell with new ideas, we will be the movement with no ideas. At this rate we should keep an electoral death grip on Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas.

Why the hell did Ron Paul agree to appear at this clown convention?

REFLECTIONS ON GOD, MAN, AND CPAC

Mercifully, CPAC2009 will end. What an absolute embarrassment. If these are the people that will lead the Conservative movement then the movement is in bigger trouble then previously thought.

Seriously I give up. Tom Delay caught on tape hoping for a depression, Michelle Bachmann and her oh so hip "you be da man Michael", Bolton masturbating over the thought of Chicago being nuked, hissing and booing Tucker Carlson, all topped off with Rush and his Defender of the Constitution Award. Were the Tin Foil hats free with the registration? And you wonder why the message doesn't resonate.

CPAC AGENDA SHOWS CONSERVATIVES STILL IN DENIAL

You're kidding right. Coulter, Reed, Malkin, Phyllis Schlafly, and Bay Buchanan. Wait, here's a plan for our comeback, present the lunatic fringe as standard bearers of the conservative movement and wait for the 20 point bump, although I wouldn't hold your breath. Say what you want about Spectre, Snow, and Collins, at least they can interpret the numbers, or maybe you would like 3 more Democratic Senators from the Northeast.

Conservative=Coulter, Reed, Schlafly, Malkin, and Buchanan, the world is flat, and Christ rode into Jerusalem on the back of a friendly Brontosaurus, the equation for years of wandering the political wasteland and eventual extinction.

BTW, Rick, thanks for understanding the numbers and admitting it.
